Polypropylene & Polyethylene Tray Laminates

50PP For Polypropylene & Polyethylene Tray Sealing

50PP is a Polyester / Modified PE laminate film which is a mere 50 micron, meaning it’s extremely thin and lightweight, yet very safe and durable to use across a variety of different packaging.

50PP film provides weld seals, and acts as a strong yet easily removable/peelable way to seal up PVC, Polypropylene, Polystyrene and Polyester trays. Most often found in food packaging items, especially ready meals, it’s a practical and cost-efficient way for businesses to stock food.

As a leading distributor and stockist of Polypropylene Polyethylene Tray Laminates, here at Wrapid we pride ourselves on being the go-to company for these films.

Practical information

Wrapid film 50PP is suitable for cooking food in microwaves, but not necessarily for most conventional ovens. When heating up one of the trays in an oven, the film must be removed prior to cooking, and relevant information should be called out on any accompanying food packaging.

The film can be sealed on Polypropylene Polyethylene Tray Laminates at temperatures between 120°C - 185°C, but it’s recommended that any business or company using such film establishes their own conditions which are optimum for the product. Not just that, but it will also vary depending on the type of machinery and application involved in the process.
Once it hits temperatures of 160°C, the film will seal instantly, but ‘full strength’ as such, is only reached about an hour or so after sealing is complete.

Businesses are also able to source an anti-fog coating on the surface of the heat-sealable film too. When placing orders, please specify 50PPAF when seeking out such a request.

Disposal techniques

When looking to dispose of Wrapid film 50PP, there are no overly-technical or troublesome problems associated with doing so.
Incineration with energy recovery is possibly the most environmentally efficient route to take when it comes to disposal, but 50PP can also be incinerated with normal refuse, too.

A landfill is another option, although not always recommended as the first point of disposal in the quest for an environmentally sound approach which is becoming more and more of a top priority for many industries in the recent years.

Any disposal method should fully comply with relevant country and legal regulations, and should be identified prior to disregarding the packaging.

Uses and benefits

There are many uses and benefits when it comes to 50PP for Polypropylene Polyethylene Tray Laminates.

These include, but are not limited to, the following:

Although 50PP is one of the most ultra-thin and lightweight sealants available, it doesn’t mean that any durability of the product is impacted.

Wrapid film 50PP is one of the most durable ways to seal Polypropylene & Polyethylene trays, as it doesn’t rip, tear or puncture of its own accord. In addition to its fantastic durability, the transparent design makes it very easy for customers to see exactly what food they are choosing, too.

Moisture barrier

This type of sealing process results in a solid moisture barrier, which takes effect during both the transportation process and storage process.

Having a strong moisture barrier in place not only means the contents stay compliant, but also means there’s no chance of anything leaking. This, in turn, helps to increase both customer and company satisfaction.

Food quality and freshness

As touched upon, 50PP for Polypropylene Polyethylene Tray Laminates means food contents are kept to their expected levels of quality and freshness, throughout the duration of time kept in the trays.

Food quality and freshness are of utmost importance to customers, so supplying them with sub-quality sealants will not result in the best feedback, and subsequently, sales.

These Polypropylene Polyethylene Tray Laminates are a very cost-effective way to operate.

Firstly, businesses are able to save costs on bulk shipping. Secondly, compared to competitor tray laminates and sealants, which granted, may be thicker and position themselves as sturdier even though this isn’t usually the case, this variety is a lot thinner and easier to transport, store, and dispose of. It means the number of materials used to construct is a lot fewer, and therefore, cheaper to operate.

A whole range of food varieties stored within Polypropylene and Polyethylene trays need to retain the food flavour and aroma to the best of their ability. As this is easy to do with Wrapid film 50PP for Polypropylene Polyethylene Tray Laminates, the aroma of food is not compromised through the storage of the product.

Ease of cooking

Although these Polypropylene Polyethylene Tray Laminates aren’t suitable for most conventional ovens, heating in the microwave makes them easy and efficient to cook any food within them.

As we continue to lead busier lifestyles than ever, customers are increasingly looking for ways they can eat speedily and healthily, without losing the quality and taste, and this is where 50PP for Polypropylene & Polyethylene tray sealing comes in very useful.
